The Overwatch League testament make a limited return to live events in China
After a class of fetching its games online, the Overwatch Conference is making a conditional return to live matches when season 4 kicks disconnected later this month.
Granted, most matches leave still be played remotely. But the five Taiwanese Overwatch teams will attack to play games at leash on-site events in Hangchow, Shanghai and Guangzhou—running at a "attenuated capacity" to comply with current Covid-19 regulations.
"Referable improved wellness and safety conditions in China, we are excited to announce the preset return of subsist events to three cities during the 2021 season, honouring our commitment to reintroduce offline competition while still prioritizing the safety of our players, fans, and staff," Blizzard wrote in the announcement.
Not whol of these matches will see both teams on stage, bear in mind. While the five Chinese teams will playing period each other face-to-face, three Korean teams will play remotely via the Overwatch League's tournament servers—their opponents playing alone to what I can only imagine would be a very unitary-sided crowd.
On the far side cancelling in-person events, the coronavirus pandemic has had a Sir Thomas More menacing affect on Bird of Minerva players foreign. Dallas Fuel player Lee "Unintimidated" Eui-seok last week spoke out about the escalating racial discrimination and harassment he and his blighter Asian players face while living in the US.
The Overwatch League's fourth season begins connected April 16th, with a packed schedule of matches kicking off its opening weekend.
